Meet The Founder
In 2020 Bailey started Marlow with a passion for health, well-being and the desire to create beautiful, yet practical staples for the modern woman. Now almost two years on, Marlow has grown phenomenally, with a strong e-commerce store, two Auckland stores and a third opening in The Mount next week, plus wholesale stockists nationwide.
We caught up with Bailey to find out what she has been up too and what's next for the Marlow...
What does your typical day look like at Marlow?
I am a morning person, I am usually at the gym or out walking my dog by 6am.
The First thing I do when I get to the office is make a coffee, then I jump straight into clearing emails and catching up with our team to make sure we are on task for the day.
My days are very mixed, I jump between Design, Marketing, Finance and Operations. Everyday is so different owning a retail based business, here at Marlow we are very sales and customer focussed so this is always at the forefront of everything we do.
What is your go-to Marlow outfit?
I am a very active person, so being comfortable is key. My fave set at the moment is The Coast Wide Leg Pant and Shirt - it's elevated but ticks all my boxes to be comfortable and look chic. It's crafted from our Lyocell fabric which is a plant based fibre, made from eucalyptus plants.
What has been the biggest key takeaway from the last year?
My biggest takeaway from 2021 has been to Be Courageous and Be Genuine. We are not perfect, however sometimes we have to break our barriers and get out of our comfort zones to move to where we want to be, whilst always remaining humble and being genuine to our core values.
I am so proud of where Marlow has got to in such a short amount of time and this is credit to our amazing team - they have all worked so hard! We have had many challenges as a business with Covid-19, but have come out the other side stronger than ever and are now starting to really hit our stride.
We have made many courageous moves as a business which has pushed us out of our comfort zones, and at times has been quite daunting, but now looking back - stepping outside your comfort zone is where the magic happens. We can't wait to look back on 2022 and see all the courageous moves we have made!
