Founded in 2020 and Based in Auckland, New Zealand, Marlow is a multi-channel retailer and distributor of women’s athleisure wear.  We pride ourselves on producing high-quality active and leisure products.

We have a passionate and close-knit team that is dedicated to continuous improvement, both in the product we design and how we deliver it to market. This is an attitude that extends to our strong customer focus.

Our store team is expanding, and we are looking for some fabulous women to bring on board to help take our brand into the next growth phase. We need people to help our customers feel great and enjoy expressing themselves where fashion meets daily life. 

Are you someone who loves people and has a passion for health and wellness, is friendly, likes to have a bit of fun and of course has a love for fashion and quality?

Current Job Opportunities: 

Senior Designer - Full Time: Monday to Friday - 8:30 am - 5 pm

Based at Marlow HQ: Eden Terrace, Auckland

Reporting to: Director & Co-Founder

This is a rare opportunity to shape the creative future of one of New Zealand’s most exciting and fast-growing fashion and athleisure brands.

As our Designer, you’ll work at the heart of the brand, leading the design process from concept to final sample, driving innovation, and ensuring every product reflects our signature style, quality, and attention to detail.

In this hands-on role, you’ll collaborate closely with our Directors across design, production, and sourcing. You’ll bring fresh ideas, identify market opportunities, and deliver beautiful, commercially successful collections that our customers love - all while ensuring they align with our brand DNA and margin goals.

We’re a small, ambitious team, so key attributes include flexibility, creativity, and a can-do attitude, which are essential. If you’re ready to roll up your sleeves and be part of building something special, we want to hear from you.

What you’ll be doing:

1. Design

  • Research emerging trends, styles, and fabrics - creating seasonal mood boards and trend presentations 

  • Design new collections and seasonal updates to our core ranges, ensuring they are on-brand, innovative, and margin-conscious

  • Manage the entire design process from concept sketches through to final samples

  • Present compelling seasonal thematics and stories, colour palettes, fabric selections and mood boards that inspire the team and align with our brand direction

  • Create detailed design files to hand to our garment technician with accurate key specifications ready to prepare for sampling and production. 

  • Monitor local and international competitors, bringing fresh ideas and opportunities to the table

  • Analyse best and worst sellers with the Directors and Sales Manager, and recommend design improvements to drive sales

2. Sourcing

  • Collaborate with suppliers to source innovative fabrics, yarns, and trims

  • Identify and build relationships with new factories that meet our ethical and sustainability standards

  • Negotiate fabric and sample costs to ensure gross profit margins are maintained

  • Timeline management in order to receive proto samples to fit the range & selling deadlines

  • Maintain strong, collaborative supplier relationships and work closely with the Co-Founder and Director on communications

3. Development

  • Own and manage the critical path, ensuring design and sample deadlines are met

  • Deliver samples that meet the brief, budget, and brand identity - at the right price points

  • Working alongside our garment technologist. Apply your strong technical knowledge to create and amend tech packs, ensuring accurate garment fits and specifications.

  • Research new techniques, technology, and innovations in the activewear and fashion industries to keep our brand at the forefront

What you’ll bring

  • Proven design experience in fashion or activewear, with a strong eye for trends and commerciality

  • Excellent technical skills in creating detailed, accurate tech packs to pass to the garment technician. 

  • Strong understanding of garment construction, fits, and fabric performance

  • The ability to balance creativity with commercial targets

  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills. An ability to collaborate well with our key interface departments - sales, marketing and retail.

  • Proactive, organised, and confident, working to tight timelines in a fast-paced environment

  • A genuine love for our brand, our product, and our customers
