WOMEN OF MARLOW | Laura from Wild Pilates
The Marlow Team recently visited Laura Mohi in her stunning new boutique Wild Pilates studio in Remuera, Auckland, New Zealand. Fresh and new, there is a sense of calm as you walk into her studio. Laura’s business focus is to combine support of physical and mental wellbeing coupled with a regime of flexibility, sculpting work and strength training. Laura says her signature style is to combine classes that “calm and burn” as she implements her love of nature and outdoors for the calm, and her 10 years as a personal trainer and formative competitive athlete... that’s the burn bit!!!
During lockdown Laura recognised the need to pivot her business – 2020 started as a challenge with all her clients locked into their homes but still desperate for her classes. As a result of this Laura created her online International Studio subscription option which was quickly snapped up as Kiwis all over the world tuned in for their daily fitness fix. Laura now has clients from Auckland to London, LA, and New York. As a result of this Laura has a busy life with her daily classes and global online class creation as her business is thriving.
Laura has an effortless, wholesome and healthy look, with such natural beauty inside and out. We asked her to select pieces from our latest Marlow collection which would suit her needs both on and off duty. She gravitated towards pieces that she could use during her classes and loves our Vapour Hot Shorts, Tempo and Oasis Sports Bras, and luxurious Flo and 7/8 Charge Leggings in our new soft Airbrush Sculpt fabrications. These styles offer her support and total comfort during her workouts, and she loves the high waist of the Vapour Shorts, which says are hard to find.
At Marlow, we are proud to work with Laura and outfit her as she goes about her business and daily life. Our premium athleisure collections have such synergy with Wild Pilates and its clients as women lead multitasking lifestyles. We hope our relationship with Laura and her clients grows and flourishes as she follows her passion.
Laura wears the Oasis Sports Bra and Circuit Biker Short.
INTRODUCE YOURSELF: YOUR NAME AND WHERE YOU’RE FROM…
I'm Laura Mohi, originally From Hawkes Bay where my family still lives. I now live in Auckland where I run my business from.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS AND HOW IT BEGAN?
Wild Pilates combines my love of nature and Pilates with the goal of inspiring my clients to experience the benefits of both. I have been a Pilates instructor and Personal trainer for the last 10 years, after working in the industry for 5 years I wanted to bring my signature style of teaching to more people. This is how Wild Pilates began. I opened my first Reformer studio in January 2017 and since then have opened another boutique studio and launched an international Online Studio.
WHAT’S UNIQUE ABOUT WILD PILATES?
The emphasis on combining the benefits of Pilates and nature to help support mental and physical wellbeing. Also my background in Pilates and Fitness has led to my signature style of Pilates classes that are a combination of calm and burn.
ASIDE FROM PILATES, DO YOU HAVE ANOTHER GO-TO WORKOUT?
I get my strength training, flexibility and sculpting work from Pilates so I like to compliment this with a little cardio a few times a week. My go-to is anything outside usually a beach walk or trail run.
DO YOU FOLLOW A DIET?
Not really. I like to incorporate as many nutrients as I can into my meals and start the day with goodness. I'm gluten-free but other than that I'm pretty relaxed.
IF YOU COULD TRAIN ANYONE WHO WOULD IT BE?
Israel Adesanya - I love training athletes because they are really interested in learning the correct technique and Pilates usually compliments their other training well. I really enjoy UFC because the skill level is so high so I would say, Israel Adesanya would be at the top of my list.

WHAT IS YOUR MORNING REGIME?
It depends if I am teaching early but I always start the day with two glasses of water and either an ACV or wheatgrass shot, followed by a coffee - cold brew is my favourite. If I'm not working early I will start the day with a walk outside near the water.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE MARLOW PIECE & WHY?
It's a tough call but I would say the vapour hot short. They are the perfect flattering length and have a comfy high waist - which is usually so hard to find. My favourite colour is green so of course I have the olive.
TELL US SOMETHING ABOUT YOURSELF THAT NOT MANY PEOPLE KNOW.
All through my school years, I competed in athletics at a national level, 800m was my main race. This is where my love for fitness started and I also learned valuable life skills that help me with the motivation and drive to run a small business.
WHAT IS YOUR MOST GUILTY PLEASURE?
I love reading, so much so I can waste whole days lost in a book, I sometimes joke my ultimate dream job would be a book reviewer. I am also obsessed with proper crisps.
WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY LISTENING TO?
I have had the Peter Urlich Broadcast experience on every day this summer, highly recommend it.
WHERE IS YOUR FAVOURITE HOLIDAY DESTINATION?
I would say in NZ it would be Wanaka or Hawkes Bay and overseas, Indonesia.
ANYTHING EXCITING PLANNED FOR 2021?
I am running another retreat at Aro Ha retreats near Queenstown. Also hoping to book a trip to two NZ destinations that are top of my list Able Tasman National Park and Great Barrier Island.
