Our latest stockist has a vision for inspiring people through movement, mindset and motivation. The Space is an inclusive venue, designed to spark inspiration, connection and curiosity to grow and deepen your inner wisdom.
The Space offers a wide range of avenues for all things growth, from yoga, pilates and meditation, to clinical support for physical health. We are thrilled to partner with our first studio based stockist and can't wait for you all to test and trial our Marlow Active at The Space.
We caught up with Founder & Directors, Alex Davids and Ana Lynch to find out more...
Where is your space located?
In a beautiful converted shed on the corner of Sharp Rd and Matakana Rd, Matakana
Can you share a little bit about yourself, your background, and how you came to launch The Space, Matakana?
We come from very different backgrounds, Ana originally from hospitality, now fully focused on holistic physical health and supporting her clients to connect to their own intuition. Alex comes from a business and psychology background, coaching executives and companies on high performance. Both, however, are yoga teachers and passionate about growth.
“Our shared vision was to create a space that allowed people to work on their own growth, whatever that might look like, in a supportive and inspired way. Inspiration comes from many places, and we want to draw from as many sources as possible. Our core is yoga, (as well as pilates and meditation) a wonderful way to open the door to growth, connection, community, courage and inclusivity.
What goes on during a typical day at The Space?
Lots of connecting with others, and with ourselves and exploration of the self and what’s possible. We have 22+ yoga and pilates classes in any given week, and people wander in to share a tea, enjoy our retail and hang out in our snug. We also have regular events, speakers and workshops across any given month.
What are 3 things in your wardrobe that you can't live without and why?
Linen shirt! Goes with EVERYTHING … and it breaths.
My jandals / slides – easy moving.
Denim shorts – a Matakana must have for beach or local cruising.
What kind of brands do you stock at The Space, and why is Marlow a great fit?
We only stock brands we use because we can only promote the things we love. We have gorgeous candles from Lucyking, bolsters and eye-pillows from Globe Artichoke, cleaning products from Santosa, mats and blocks from Tribe, delicious tea from Ritualis, and our only clothing brand to date – Marlow!
For those looking to travel to Matakana, what are your must-do recommendations for the area?
FOOD!
Ice cream at Charlies
Coffee and treats at Ravish
Juices and lunch at Farmers Daughter or leisurely lunch and walk the sculpture trail at beautiful Brick Bay.
Casual beer at The Sawmill Brewery
A swim or surf at Omaha
A challenging walk up Tamahunga mountain
A visit to the wild beaches on Tawhawhanui - bike it, walk it or swim it.
