WOMEN OF MARLOW | Hady Olt - CEO of Forme Spa & Wellbeing

Welcome to our third 'Women Of Marlow' blog - a series where we interview like-minded women in business. This week, we interviewed the gorgeous Hady Olt; CEO of Forme Spa & Wellbeing. Read through to find out about Hady started the well known Forme Spa brand, her top beauty tips and advice.

Tell us a bit about your spas, and where it all began, how were you able to turn your dream into reality?
It all started nearly 20 years ago, with one spa in Spring St in Ponsonby. At that point I was looking for a part-time role of some sort as I had a 2 year old, and thought it would be a nice little business to have to give flexibility. Within a year I had another baby and was opening a second business, with two more to follow (spas not babies!) the following year. We now have 9 spas in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch and Queenstown.

What is the best advice you have received?
Be consistent when it comes to your team and also the level of standard you offer your guests; and I think one of the things that has helped us grow has been a certain restlessness with the status quo, always looking at how we can improve and grow.

What are your top beauty tips?
Cliché but sunblock is a biggie – every day and also multiple times during the day if you are outside as it just wears off. If you are wearing make-up, always double cleanse. You will be surprised if you single cleanse and dry your face with a white towel! Hydration is key – water inside, and products laden with hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid. Also, a great Vitamin A/retinol based product (used at night) can do wonders for an uneven complexion.

How would you describe your style?
Modern classic, going for quality with a bit of an edge. Sophisticated but not boring I hope. Fairly big on monochrome, clean lines.
Your spas are absolutely beautiful. What was the inspiration behind the design?
We had been chocolate for many years and loved the warmth but I was bored, bored, bored of it. We engaged a designer and it was her take on it that gave the warm clay walls, brass, wood and blush accents that we hope feel homely yet sophisticated.

What is something you are looking forward to this Summer?
Travel! My son and brother are living in the USA so I hope to be able to see them, and my daughter lives in Christchurch and I’m looking forward to some time with her. But mainly, getting the hell out of lockdown and never going back.

What is something from your closet that you can’t live without?
I’ve got a Christian Dior dress I bought in Europe many years ago – I don’t wear it any more but it was a splurge even though it was on sale and a “moment”.
We hope you enjoyed reading our Women Of Marlow blog where we interview women who have achieved amazing success in business. Stay tuned for more exciting interviews!
